Teaching the Bible

Mission Statement:

Helping others study and apply the Bible.

Greetings friends!

This ministry, started about a decade ago, begun with a vision to help laypeople to study and apply the Bible in a way that is accessible, practical and efficient. Feel free to download our free resources including study guides, books and devotionals. There are videos to encourage and a link to our testimony movie, Silver Twins. If you have any questions or needs feel free to contact us. There is also a donate button if you feel so led. Thank you.
The Pastoral Epistles Layman’s Guide

The Pastoral Epistles Layman’s Guide, written by Dr. David Silver, highlights Paul’s final instructions to Timothy and Titus as they lead churches facing threats from false teaching. Paul urges them to guard the gospel, appoint godly leaders, and teach sound doctrine that produces transformed lives. The letters emphasize that true faith results in godliness, healthy relationships, perseverance in hardship, and devotion to good works. Above all, the church must uphold the truth of the gospel so it can flourish in character, stability, and witness to the world.

Weekly Devotions

The Bow in the Cloud

May 2, 2026

We carry the weight of broken promises so long that we start to assume every promise has a breaking point. We know better than to say that about God out loud.

Creation Speaks — And So Does Grace

April 24, 2026

Later, I asked her directly — “Where do you think your faith comes from?”

Temptation vs Testing

April 17, 2026

Temptation does not come from God. Its purpose is to pull us away—to weaken us, to distract us, to lead us into choices that ultimately bring harm, shame, or distance in our relationship with Him.

God Wrote the Words

April 10, 2026

When purpose takes over, the results move from the talent of man to the realm of the Divine. We see this “Divine” perfection most clearly…

The Sufficiency of Christ

April 3, 2026

Paul didn’t get his thorn removed. He got something better. He got the reminder that the God of the universe was personally present in his weakness.

Your Will be Done

March 27, 2026

God’s kingdom sums up everything a Christian longs for and Corinthians 13 describes this as a world characterized by faith, hope, and love. If our earthly world was built on only these three principles, how much more peaceful, more beautiful, and more livable would it be than the world we’re living in right now?

What Did the Lord’s Prayer Mean to Me?

March 20, 2026

For many people, the Lord’s Prayer is something they learn early in life. For me, it’s as ingrained as my instinct to breathe.

Why Does a Good God Allow Suffering?

March 13, 2026

Hardship often shifts our focus from temporary comfort to eternal hope. When life is easy, we tend to rely on ourselves. But when life becomes difficult, we often find ourselves turning to God for strength.

Fear and the Favorite Son

March 7, 2026

His life would travel from favorite son to a man marked for death, thrown in a pit, sold to nomadic travelers, and imprisoned for roughly thirteen years, before he became the second-most powerful man in one of the world’s greatest dynasties.

The View from the Pit

February 27, 2026

Oliver Hardy used to say, “This is a fine mess you’ve gotten us into.” It’s funny in a comedy sketch, but not so funny when it’s your actual life.

Hope from the Victory of a Promise

By Robert Wilkins | November 27, 2020

According to NIH, hope is “defined as a concept that suggests a greater emotional component than mere expectation.” We can survive many days without food, but not a single day without hope. Many people glean hope from things they can see or touch, or from a future shaped by human hands and efforts. For a Christian, our greatest hope comes from the victory our savior delivered on the cross. This devotion centers on the impact Jesus Christ’s promise has had on my son’s Christian walk.

Why Don’t You Ask My Mom to Dance?

By Robert Wilkins | November 20, 2020

For me, one of the most awesome parts of being a Christian is that it keeps me open to love and learning from a variety of sources throughout my life. Just when I congratulate myself for understanding life, I am awakened to the fact that I have a lot to learn. When I think I know God’s singular meaning to a certain passage of scripture, I’m blindsided by someone who shows me a whole new truth to that passage. This is where my friend Momma comes in.

Don’t Just Sit on the Wall, Break Through It

By Robert Wilkins | November 13, 2020

It wasn’t until his graduation from college, that God spoke gently to my friend. While still on campus, sitting alone on a brick wall, it was God who revealed the unescapable truth to my friend. “Apart from me you can do nothing,” Jesus told my friend.

Do People Know What Kind of Tree you Are?

By Robert Wilkins | November 6, 2020

A loving relationship can’t grow without giving, without sacrifice, and without active communication. Think about the reassurance you get when you’re talking with your doctor about a serious or concerning issue you’re experiencing.

We Listen but He Listened First

In Our World of Gray

By Robert Wilkins | October 23, 2020

In a world of gray where many lines are blurred, Christian believers must face an ongoing battle of being both authentic and faithful. God’s word as breathed in the Bible, is clear about real (eternal) and worldly (temporal) loyalty. So Christians over the past 2000 years have walked tightrope between adopting society’s acceptable beliefs or following God’s ordained commands.

Lean on Thee

By Robert Wilkins | October 9, 2020

If God were to ask you what you wanted him to give you, what would you say? Would you ask for health, peace, comfort, wealth, treasures? Would you ask for wisdom?

Salt, Light, and Orange Juice – Part 1

By Robert Wilkins | October 7, 2020

We have all known people who have made positive imprints on our lives. Not insignificant, trivial tick-marks, but deep spiritual, and lasting etches to our spiritual well-being. I used to read and listen to a lot of self-help gurus. Wayne Dyer, Stephen Covey, Tony Robbins, and Deepak Chopra to name a few.

Eventually, I found self-help to leave me thirsting for more substance, something more penetrating and permanent. But one quote from Wayne Dyer, has stuck with me for 15 years.

Revelation Study Guide

David Silver

Many people, even Christians, fear the book of Revelation. While it is one of the hardest books of the Bible to understand and apply, it is nonetheless possible to make great progress. It is actually one of the most encouraging books of the Bible. The main theme is for believers to continue to be faithful and endure tribulation, despite persecution, spiritual warfare, and trials. This study guide will take you through every chapter of Revelation and give you a good sense of the content and application. May God richly bless you as the book promises to those who take this book to heart.
