Mark 11:24

This message can sometimes be misunderstood, until we take a closer look. When the text says “whatever you ask for”, does it mean that you can ask for absolutely anything and it will be yours? To some, this might seem like a Genie has appeared and is here to grant anything that they want. However, this text is not implying that Jesus will give you absolutely anything that you ask for in prayer. James 4:3 says, “You ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly to spend it on your passions.” This confirms that the phrase “whatever you ask for”, in Mark 11:24, is assuming that the prayer you are saying is aligned with God’s path for you. You cannot simply pray for something that will solely benefit yourself, but your prayers should be selfless, heartfelt, and benefit not only you, bu help to serve the world and God’s purpose.
