The book of Daniel is unique in the Old Testament. It is classified as “Writing” by Jewish thought. It is clearly prophetic in the first half of the book with stories of the exploits of Daniel and his friends.The second half of the book is apocalyptic. Daniel, especially chapter 7, is foundational to the NT book of Revelation. Daniel’s theme, the reign of God, is portrayed in God’s use of this faithful servant, and in God’s revealing of the unfolding of redemptive history from His perspective.
